OH ALIEN live

oh alien is a surprised ‘oh’ to the unknown in the self and a conversation with pop. Anselma Schneider, Luca Weigl and Rafael Henninger write ‘delicately spun songs’ (Ö1) that tell of bouncy castle-sized micro-crises and the shimmering dreams of ones mid-20s. Experienced in trouble-hopping, they sing about the fear of failure, the unrealistic expectations of their own lives and all the consequences of this, and try to create a space in which they don't feel ‘alien’.

oh alien is a question, an exclamation, a sigh, a joke, a love letter. The self-chosen term avant-garde pop is more of an expedient than an exhaustive description. In the field of tension between classical song forms and their dissolution, elegant ballads meet complex pop songs that always reveal a certain ‘weirdness’. A sound that moves bodies and stirs thoughts – raw and electrifying.
 Following the release of their first EP This Might Be The Place (2022) and a series of concerts at Haldern Pop Festival (DE) and Take the A-Train Festival, among others, oh alien teamed up with musician and producer Sixtus Preiss and spent an intensive summer in the studio together. Their debut album What We Grow – in which Grammy award-winning US mixer Chris Tabron is also involved – was released in 2024.

Together, Qarmareen and d.b.h. have created the Raقsouna (or Raqsouna) party series, in which they redefine party culture by creating spaces and shaking up Vienna together with national and international musicians.
