Methods of Rebuilding
1. Let's say our ideas are our capital. Let's say, this is what I have and start questioning, develop and clarify this capital's potential.
2.Let's say we have limited ideas or that we have only one idea, but the market asks us to be new and original. What is the value of such limited capital? Could we clarify its value by clarifying its function?
3. What is freedom? Does freedom exist? How do we look for freedom? What is freedom when there is capital and what is it when there is limited capital? What is responsibility? What is necessity? When is it enough?
Could we ever stop, and do we stop because it is enough, or is it because we can not go on? What is limitation? Is there any limit to freedom?
Workshop Timeline
During the first day - by way of analysis - we will get to a subject, a frame for the material, that will be produced. During the first day we will also organize ourselves as a group or work solo. On the second day we'll be working on producing the material and at the end everybody will present their material. This material is what we have. From there we will just continue developping, instead of producing something new. We will present our subject, show the material and discuss how they are related or how their relationship could be enhanced. We'll spend the last 3 days mainly showing, talking and developping.
The goal is to find and define methods of production by way of limiting ourselves. Through discussion and development we will find links between theory and how it materializes on the floor.
Active Participation is a must. We wish that the methods are developed through the group being involved and engaged.
Hooman Sharifi
Born and raised in Iran, now a Norwegian Citizen. Came to Norway all on his own in 1989 at the age of 15. His experience in dance started with hip-hop and street-jazz. Later, at the age of 21, he had technical training in classical ballet and modern dance. In 1997 he was accepted to the 3-year course in choreography at the National College of Ballet and Dance in Oslo, from which he graduated in Spring 2000. He has always had interest in the “cross-work” of dance and theatre, and after graduating he has worked with dramatic as well as visual art. In 2000 he established Impure Company. The statement “art equals politics” where social awareness and commitment defines the word politics, marks the outset for Impure Company and signifies what art is and should be.
In 1998 he has worked with Liat Dror & Nir Ben Gal Company in Tel Aviv. In 1999 he was Assisting Choreographer in "Blekkhusets natt", directed by Kjetil Skøien, at Black Box Theatre, Oslo.
Among the projects her participated in or organized are "Art as arena for solving of conflicts", an educational project organised by The College of Art in Oslo with participants from visual art, theatre and dance from Kosovo, Serbia and Norway (1999/2000) and in 2000/2201 he worked with Zero Visibility Corp. in Oslo.
His piece As if your death was your longest sneeze ever premiered in 2002 and was produced with Impure Company in co-production with BIT-Teatergarasjen Bergen, Monty Antwerp and springdance/works, Utrecht. His Duo with Kristine N. Slettevold Then such silence since the cries were last heard was created in 2001 (Video Anne Lise Stenseth) in co-production with BIT-Teatergarasjen Bergen and Monty Antwerp. His solo Suddenly, anyway, why all this? While I.... (2002) was commissioned by BIT-Teatergarasjen for Oktoberdans 2000.
