What would “Cunt” say if handed a microphone? A megaphone? Would “Cunt” sing or scream? If “Cunt” could sweep you up with "Cunt’s" own movement practice, what would that look like? If "Cunt" did stand-up, would we laugh – until we cried?
This research project is a journey into the ancient magic, visceral intelligence, and untamed poetics of "Cunt" – a multifaceted entity that embodies wisdom, audacity, and creative power, and will culminate in the creation and presentation of "Cunt" monologues.
Over the course of the week, participants embark on a condensed process inspired by the development of Dani’s last work for stage THE PRESSING. Each day begins with a training to prepare bodies, minds, and voices for a day of diving deep into "Cunt". Together, participants explore texts that inspire, contextualise, and challenge, setting the stage for daily creative writing sessions to craft one’s own monologues.
A big part of Dani’s artistic practice concerns the potential dimensions of combining text and movement, and how uncanny juxtapositions between physicality, the colour of voice, and textual content function to bring about a complexity of poetics in the eye of the viewer. Participants will make use of the practices Dani developed during process of THE PRESSING to physically materialise and specify the performativity of monologues.
The week will culminate in a showing – a celebration of what "Cunt" has to say and reveal, where words and movement intertwine in visceral, embodied performances.
The workshop addresses all genders, or anyone interested in giving more voice to their inner "Cunt".
