The dialogue between Meg Stuart and Mark Tompkins began in 2016, when they started sharing their passion for improvisation, giving workshops and performances in radically different landscapes and contexts. In 2019, they created a duo, ONE SHOT, based on the LEXICON Key Words, where they speak and dance while performing. The words serve as the dramaturgical spine of the performance. They also wrote a book, ONE SHOT, dialogues on real time composition, based on conversations, interviews and performance transcripts, published in 2022 at the Editions L’oeil d’or in Paris. They continue to teach and perform ONE SHOT.
ONE SHOT Performing Improvisation is built around several intertwining focuses – perceiving, practising, performing. Through sensorial explorations and extended movement meditations, we observe and study our desires and movement patterns, temporal and spatial choices and what moves us physically and conceptually. Exploring the strategies of transformation, change and surrender, we meet through touch, energetic exchanges and shared fictions. On 14 July, the Field Project concludes with a presentation. On 15 July, Meg and Mark present their duo ONE SHOT.
We are looking for physical movers, dance and theatre makers and experienced improvisers with skills and imagination, ready to take risks… We will work indoors as well as outdoors.
