Questioning Choreography
We set out in two directions: expanding our concepts about what choreography can mean and simultaneously defining it for ourselves. What is it that is being choreographed? The movement, the body, the space, the idea, the perception, the attention and/or any other thing you can think of?
I will bring a few ideas of mine in and the rest will be provided by the participants.
The workshop format of Questioning Choreography is open, but the questions are precise:
- How can we think technique in relation to choreography?
- What is your practice and how do you relate it to performance?
Both of the questions touch the relation between dance and choreography, and eventually end up in the question of author and performer in contemporary dance.
We will move and we will talk.
