Johanna Figl studied theatre, film and media in Vienna and Bologna. She is working as a dance and theatre dramaturge for a. o. Tina Leisch, Johan De Smet, Ives Thuwis, Joke Laureyns & Kwint Manshoven, Karl Wozek, Joost Koning, Melika Ramic, Hanni Westphal, Martina Rösler (Das ist ja ein Ding Stella 2015 – Outstanding production for children), Simon Mayer, Magdalena Chowaniec, Ulduz Ahmadzadeh.
Between 2006 and 2012 she worked at SZENE BUNTE WÄHNE (performing arts for young audiences), where she took over the artistic direction, dramaturgy, concept development and direction of the mediation after two years in the programming team. In 2012, she founded together with Julia Tauber-Lewisch TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC, a funding platform, which in her view has long been due, for choreographers and performers for young audiences. Between 2012 and 2015 she took over touring and PR for the Belgian dance companies Kabinet K and Nevski Prospekt. Between 2013 and 2018 she worked at ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival in the video, social media and web editorial department. Further she is organising and supporting initiatives, which create free access to the cultural life of Vienna for refugees.
Since 2016, she has been completing her 3-year training as a psychosomatic, academic kinesiologist for the ÖAKG.
Her most recent performance project: "Under Cover" (concept and dramaturgy) with choreographer Ulduz Ahmadzadeh will premiere in May 2019 at Tanzquartier Wien.
Another project she is planning is the construction of a healing art centre for children.
