Where has the reputation gone? The city on the Seine as a cultural hotspot for migrants from all over the world and a metropolis of the avant-garde – those days are long gone. Today, Ivo Dimchev as choreographer, and former dancer with Jan Fabre, Christian Bakalov as performer, realise that Paris is both open and guarded at the same time. A post-modern Babylon of high culture and the banlieues, of segregation and failed integration. “I’m in the heart of the city, confused, disoriented, on the verge of committing suicide, I am a monument”, the refugee grunts. Paris is your regular Europe: all the expectations are drowned in the humiliations of reality. Conceived even before the great migration of refugees, this solo fits the present situation to a T – as a memorial to the unknown refugee who never reaches a destination other than his suffering.
