PROGRAMME
Just imagine: Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti and opera connoisseur Marcel Prawy are looking down from heaven, watching Ivo Dimchev here on earth when he elevates the art of opera to an Elysium of whose existence even Anna Netrebko is as yet unaware. This “plain of the blessed” is located not so far away from the entrance to the underworld and it’s called Operville. And it’s also where Plamena Girginova, Nikolay Voynov and the unfathomable choreographer himself sing while assuming unusual postures. Which makes this a unique experience, because Dimchev’s phantoms of the opera dance according to his ludicrous understanding of theatre and music. Despite the minimalist setting, one female and two male voices effectively melt the stage. The growling of a predator butts in on this feast for the ears and eyes, as does manic headbanging.
