"Hommages" A bow towards life and passion - these are the four solo works with the title "Hommages", which Mark Tompkins developed between 1989 and 1998. He dedicated them to those figures in dance he considers as his most important influences: Vaslav Nijinsky, Valeska Gert, Josephine Baker, and Harry Sheppard. With these pieces the American living in France shows himself at his most versatile, full of subtlety and with a detached sense of irony - even where he himself is concerned.
