"Frans Poelstra zaubert" "Frans Poelstra, his dramaturg and Bach" The joke, the improvisation, the pitfalls of public acting, playing and dancing, his own stage personality and the presence of the audience - these are the materials the Dutch performer Frans Poelstra draws upon. In collaboration with his congenial dramaturg Robert Steijn the artist developed two solo works, designed to astonish his audience, first in the Sigmund Freud Museum and then in the Wiener Schauspielhaus. In "Frans Poelstra zaubert" he conjures a close and revealing relationship with his audience; in style with Freud, i.e. on a couch, he is revolving around a point of no return. In "Frans Poelstra, his dramaturg and Bach" he sets out to fathom the inevitability of Bach for the choreographer of a certain age. How will Poelstra survive on an official dance stage? And: Can he pull through via the help of live dance, live music and live video projections, and thus successfully battle the Goldberg variations?
