Already the founding name “DV8” refers to film and video, notwithstanding its allusion to “deviate”. Now, ImPulsTanz pre- sents a retrospective of Newson’s inspirational, multi-awarded films, among them The Cost of Living. The stage version could be seen at ImPulsTanz in 2003 on three successive evenings
in a more than packed Burgtheater. The retrospective offers a singular opportunity to delve into the history of dance film – but also into artistic documents reflecting and tackling our latest history marked by Thatcherism and Reaganomics and their multi-cultural, leftist and liberal counterparts.
