Is this man really a fashion victim? Or is the way Trajal Harrell’s treats fashion simply a reinvention of criticism? Anyway, the message the impressive New York dancer delivers by his changes of clothes in the (S) version of his “Twenty Looks” project, is both explicit and ambiguous. Wearing bright yellow rubber gloves and sneakers, and then an apron with a photo print that transforms into a coat, he takes on the role of a pretty unconventional model, dancing to jazzy and trendy music.

In his brillant six-part project the New York based choreographer Trajal Harrell brings together what was not meant to be together at its time: The queer voguing ball scene from Harlem and the groundbreaking postmodern dancers of the Judson Church Dance Theater. For the very first time, the entire series is being presented now – from (XS) to (M2M) – "Made to Measure"!
