A passionate plea by Trajal Harrell and Thibault Lac for the beauty of a stage spectacle and the appeal of enchantment, glamour and celebrity appearances. The duet “Antigone jr.”, part of Harrell’s “Twenty Looks” series, is a celebration of expressive and dramatic dance and of its US American icon, Martha Graham. Sophocles’ Antigone serves as an appropriate starting point for this. There are spaces opening up for heroism along with its tragic array of emotions. Moving, uplifting and thrilling, it is the best possible material for this heroic male piece that ranges between distant nonchalance and dedicated devotion, with much dress code and a touch of eroticism.
