„Chutes Incandescentes“

A truly rare experience, an enchanting piece – Canadian choreographer Benoît Lachambre and singer, dancer and author Clara Furey have evoked rather enthusiastic reactions to the “shining downfalls” they have been conjuring up on stage together. Lachambre calls the work a “Solo for two bodies”, in which the two artists examine those aspects of Western culture that are deeply rooted in Eastern mythology. They go about it like archaeologists, working their way through to the human subconscious layer by layer. With a deep, erotic voice, Furey sings songs composed by herself to poems by the Persian mystic and poet Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi (1207-1273) and to texts of the epic Mahabharata. She recites texts about the downfall of Ravana – and about Rama, an incarnation of god Vishnu, about Sita, his beloved, and Rama’s friend, the monkey god Hanuman. And she unites dreams of love, spirituality and sexuality.
