What would have happened, if someone from the colourful Voguing scene from Harlem would have come downtown to meet the pioneers of Postmodern Dance at Judson Church Theatre in the early 60ies? A provocative question. In three pieces New York choreograph Trajal Harrell offers a new view on US American dance avant-garde and, via the codes of Voguing that are linked with fashion and luxury, he also examines our desire to become someone else. His “Twenty Looks” exist in the formats (XS), (S) and (M) – M stands for “(M)IMOSA”, which Harrell created together with Cecilia Bengolea, François Chaignaud and Marlene Freitas. “(M)IMOSA” has the four excellent soloists on a collision course, by pop icons like Prince and Kate Bush join on the way.
