But even before his appointment to Wuppertal he was known for his precise knowledge of existing forms and his ability to create new freedoms – which in turn have served as a springboard for new generations of choreographers. Through his own texts and conversations as well as echoes from theory and art, the publication represents a “key to the door to the inner workings of [Charmatz’] mind”.
