PROGRAMME
The human body as metronome, driving the beat, refusing to let up. In Make it Count, the choreography functions as its own soundtrack. Berlin-based violinist and performer Matteo Haitzmann expands traditional notions of musical composition, dedicating an entire piece to an unusual trio of instruments: the modular synthesizer, the extended drums and – the skipping rope. Together with two wonderful musicians (Arthur Fussy on synthesizer and Judith Schwarz on drums), he puts on a special kind of choreographic concert: from the rope, Haitzmann manages to elicit an idiosyncratic, driving sound via microphone-outfitted floors, aerodynamic drag and full physical exertion, a sound which can’t be separated from the dance that is its cause.
Supported by the NATIONAL PERFORMANCE NETWORK Guest Performance Funding Dance International, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
