"D'avant" A powerful weakness for medieval vocal music was the starting point for four prominent contemporary dancers, singers and choreographers to work together. The quartet consists of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet from Les Ballets C. de la B. as well as Juan Kruz de Garaio Esnaola and Luc Dunberry from the Berlin Company Sasha Waltz & Guests. The energy-charged, vocally-trained cloverleaf succeeds in creating an impressive mosaic of voice and movement taking the audience along on a journey through the centuries in lively pictures. In the process “d’avant” is not subjected to a linear schema but instead is gives the stories from the past a modern and challenging countenance located between noble madrigal, football satire and boy group poses.
