PROGRAMME
SERVICE
This is a true celebration of street dance, bolstering all the senses, giving a new lease on life. For this purpose, French choreographer Amala Dianor has teamed up with composer Awir Leon and visual artist Grégoire Korganow, and hired eleven virtuoso street dancers of various styles and from different places: Johannesburg, Seoul, Miami and Rio. The piece itself is a distillate of discoveries and evenings spent in the underground scenes between Seoul, Paris, Los Angeles and Atlanta. “DUB is not meant to be taken literally as a creation to the music of the same name, but rather as a reference to the process of appropriation that often occurs in this music, in street dance and in my work especially”, Dianor comments. In a stage installation consisting of box-like rooms stacked on top of each other – each cube a showcase – and on the stage area in front of it, the dancers get going, providing deep insights into the dazzling universe of street dance, which comes from the periphery of society and has long since established itself across the board.
With the support of the Institut français à Paris and the Institut français d’Autriche.
