What is there to discover beneath surfaces – in the ground, for example, but also in dance? New York choreographer DD Dorvillier had a dream. In it, while she was working on a project called Landscape Stories, a dance appeared before her from the deeper layers of her unconscious. The dream led her to develop a series of research projects, practices and dances that are at the heart of this performance: Dance is the archeologist, or an idol in the bone is part of her larger-scale framework project Untitled landscapes. So dance itself becomes the archaeologist in this piece, guiding its performer through the soil to the bones of time like a researcher. Layer by layer, she dances towards an invisible, ghostly partner figure until she finds a future piece of the present.
