Ten years before Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, the performance art group Pussy Riot sparked a storm of media attention with their protest gig in Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. To mark the centenary of the world premiere of Vaslav Nijinsky’s dance scandal Le Sacre du Printemps, Austrian choreographer Christine Gaigg merged Pussy Riot with Nijinsky to create DeSacre! in 2013. The first performance took place at the invitation of the then Federal President Heinz Fischer in Josephskapelle at Hofburg. Now DeSacre! is back: to make us remember the daring Russian feminist rebels.
