Reappropriating “batty bwoy”, a Jamaican homophobic slang term, Harald Beharie’s intense solo performance moves between attribution and self-actualization. What kind of energies can be drawn from the destructive fantasies that are continually projected onto Black queer people and their bodies? In the sometimes playful, sometimes eery Batty Bwoy, Beharie creates a fascinating “ambivalent creature” that in its nakedness provokes our gaze and skillfully lets images take shape before shedding them.

Duration: 80 Min

This performance contains nudity and loud sounds.
