Shyness isn’t an attribute of the characters that Sophia Rodríguez transforms into on stage in front of her audience. This very nature plays a role in her latest solo piece as well, an inseparable part of which is ostentation as a means to express the urgent desire to transform one’s own body into an image – and to forestall that urge at the same time. In this playful, crazy performance, the often disturbing conflict between self-image and external image produces supremely peculiar effects.
