The future is now. What an ingeniously double-edged statement in an age that is only just beginning to discover that it cannot be a good idea if everybody lives like there’s no tomorrow! A shudder has begun to run through our society at the thought of what could lie in store. How are things actually supposed to go on, and where to find a proper oracle? Swiss artists Mira Kandathil and Annina Machaz are just the right people to ask. Because the two cynical “soothsayers” mirroring Kassandra and Pythia have the gift. They turn the oracle into a convincing variety show and throw obscure divinations at their flock of pilgrims. For example, the meaning of a garden hut boasting an illuminated toilet bowl or the connection between a pregnancy photo of Beyoncé and a large eagle.
