Many people think that only the economy will suffer from the impending Brexit. But who speaks of art, of dance, of Jonathan Burrows, for example? Perhaps dance will overwrite the separation beyond recognition, with the help of Burrows’ foresight, intelligence and subtle wit that adds a postmodern facet to British humour. Prime examples of this are the duets Burrows danced with musician Matteo Fargion: Both Sitting Duet, for example, or Speaking Dance and Cow Piece are true gems of contemporary European choreography. Now, Burrows takes his first solo piece on tour. In preparation, he consulted the Choreographer’s Handbook which he wrote himself, recovered the choreography of a lost performance and has rewritten that dance. It will be a treat!
