Now they are all finally presented together: the four extra-sharp Red Pieces by Mette Ingvartsen, to come (extended), 7 Pleasures, 21 pornographies and 69 positions. In her series, the Danish artist reflects on the history of sexuality, as it has been shown in performance and performance art since the 1960s to today. In her pieces, Ingvartsen deals with nudity and gender relations in very different artistic compositions, with the cultural construction and manipulation of bodies up to the ways how we have sex together. Ingvartsen encounters all this with wit and sensuality, political sensitivity and great candor.

Two words, one truth: sex sells. This is why our everyday environment is filled with images of enticing bodies, erotically charged music and intimate performances. And in this bubble of advertising, media and digital communication suggesting comfort, according to Mette Ingvartsen, pleasure has become obligatory. So, she challenges this obligation – with a performance in which 15 dancers, wrapped in pale-blue body suits, work on re-enacting orgiastic situations. In the third instalment of the Red Pieces series by the renowned choreographer, bodies form choreographic desiring machines and orgasm sculptures. Again and again, the group generates a rhythmic pulsing, extends the concept of pleasure and lets social structures dissolve into sensual delight in the process.
