The stern melodiousness of polyphonic women’s songs from Corsica and Sicily is so fascinating to the four artists of the Viennese cowbirds collective that they have been studying it for five years. At last, the time has come: the cowbirds – Clélia Colonna, Irene Coticchio, Caroline Decker and Rotraud Kern – present their first album. With Nik Hummer, the quartet of singers and choreographers has recorded polyphonic tracks that translate the traditional songs into various soundscapes from the group’s environment, thereby providing them with a new presence.
