Universal Dancer, Boom Bodies and Ravemachine – that is Doris Uhlich’s techno trilogy. The Danceweb mentor at ImPulsTanz 2017 and one of Austria’s most renowned choreographers combines the first and the last part of this trilogy in an evening. She fuses the solo Universal Dancer, in which she rides her table-like rocking machine, and the duet Ravemachine featuring Michael Turinsky, the Austrian dancer and choreographer whose exceptional body also rocks the wheelchair in his own works. In Seismic Night, Uhlich and Turinsky fire up their devices in tried-and-tested complicity, accompanied by Boris Kopeinig’s sound mix. Two very different bodies compete with their appendages and extensions, around which a field of energy is generated that comprises humans, machines and sounds. In it, images collide, stereotypes are crushed, and relationships in dance take on new forms. So here’s the proof that quakes can do a lot of good, after all!
