ImPulsTanz has been promoting the dialogue between choreography, dance and the visual arts since 2013. To this end, collaborations have been initiated with organisations such as mumok – Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Leopold Museum, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Weltmuseum Wien, Belvedere 21 and the Vienna Secession. In the past, artists such as Eszter Salamon, Simone Aughterlony, Philipp Gehmacher, Xavier Le Roy, Ivo Dimchev and Tino Sehgal have adapted existing works or developed new ones especially for the museum space, as have Peaches & Keith Hennessy, Akemi Takeya, Doris Uhlich, Amanda Piña and Liquid Loft.
For the first time, ImPulsTanz is at guest at the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts. We present four of William Forsythe’s famous Choreographic Objects - walk-in, participatory installations. Together with the mumok – Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, we invite you to nowhere / now here. A Performance Festival curated by Marianne Dobner (mumok) and Christine Standfest (live programme). Eight contemporary choreographers, including Trajal Harrell, Geumhyung Jeong, Dana Michel and Eszter Salamon, meet performative video works from the 1960s and 1970s from the mumok collection. The title, nowhere / now here, brings together historical film material and live programme: what is created in one moment disappears in the next, only to reappear in a medially altered form. At the Künstlerhaus Factory, the focus is on Austrian choreography with Liquid Loft / Chris Haring, Christine Gaigg, Silke Grabinger and Camilla Schielin. Also for the first time, the festival is hosted by Galerie Kandlhofer with Saint Genet.
