Faux Pas – A New Encounter with Ko Murobushi

Exhibition

Ten years ago, the legendary Japanese butoh dancer Ko Murobushi left this world. The student of Tatsumi Hijikata, the inventor of the “dance of darkness”, was famous for his unconventional performances and workshops. He was also a long-standing companion of the festival, so ImPulsTanz honours Ko Murobushi with the exhibition Faux Pas in the foyer of Odeon – with photos, videos, texts and posters documenting his career. Plus: Murobushi’s installation Café Shy – a “tomb/bar”, which actually existed in Tokyo – will be set up in Spitzer around the corner. A high-profile symposium will be held to complement the memorial event.

Supported by Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture).
