In her book The Second Body, British author Daisy Hildyard attributes an additional, less tangible body to every human, that is “involved in a network of exchanges with other ecosystems”. Reflecting on Hildyard’s essay, Polish choreographer Ola Maciejewska developed a work which she transmitted to performer Leah Marojević that is neither duet nor solo, but a “choreographic object“, in which they collaborated on as well white cube and black box versions of the work. In her works with dance and materials, Maciejewska’s works resonate with the Brazilian artist Lygia Clark and the “Dance Constructions” of the choreographer Simone Forti, going far beyond the old world of solid bodies. Through touch, lifting, sliding, and embracing, a delicate symbiosis emerges in which the lines between humans and elements blur.
