PROGRAMME
After the rush comes the low, a low one wants to climb out of as quickly as possible. Unless your name is Mélissa Guex, and the low itself may promise you a different sort of rush. A depth worth exploring: in the midst of the audience and in dialogue with the terrific drummer Clément Grin, whom Guex calls her “soulmate”, the dancer wants “to sink, to let go, to surrender”. Here, exhaustion and melancholy are more than sentiments; they become poses which a body – with the necessary dedication – can acquire a taste for, and which are performed until states of actual euphoria arise again. From torpor to trance, from desperation to ecstasy: Guex and Grin are perfectly attuned to one another, and the concert they deliver is a pure delight.
