In 2025, we will celebrate the opening of ImPulsTanz not once, but twice: first indoors at Burgtheater, and the following day under the open sky on the grand stage in the courtyard of Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier – with Amala Dianor’s acclaimed piece LEVEL UP. The French choreographer showcases the boundless creativity of contemporary HipHop and Street Dance in a high-energy performance featuring eleven dancers from diverse backgrounds. Accompanied by the vibrant sounds of musician Awir Leon, LEVEL UP offers compelling insights into the aesthetic and expressive power of the short dance choreographies currently trending across social media platforms. The piece is a distillation of discoveries and underground experiences gathered in Seoul, Paris, Los Angeles and Atlanta – a pulsating fusion of global movements and cultural influences. At the same time, it opens a window into the dazzling, ever-evolving universe of Street Dance and Dub music, deeply rooted in its Jamaican origins.
With the support of the Institut français à Paris and the Institut français d’Autriche.
