A performance group that undermines the limits of rationality comes to ImPulsTanz to finish what was started in 2018: the Eine moderne Geschichte in anhaltender Gegenwart trilogy. Following the first two eight-hour opera-dance-fashion installation shows, Like Shapes in Dreams and Forgiveness, they now present the final act in the form of an immersive Madness Opera promising FOREVER. It brings Medea and the Bacchae together with the poet and coup leader Yukio Mishima in the wake of the nuclear disaster in Japan. Magnificent arias (Micaela Tobin), madrigals and pop ballads (Marilies Jagsch) sound, while tap dancing and ballet is juxtaposed with Viennese choreographer Steffi Wieser’s “movements of haemorrhage”, which cause trance-like states leading to exhaustion.
