Only recently, they were “lost in freaky evolution” or demonstrated what it means to live in “funny eternity” – now the dancers of Liquid Loft are plunging into an adventure with the terrifying Medea. In the new piece by the renowned Viennese company, the ancient Greek figure takes the form of legendary opera diva Maria Callas’ portrayal in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s film from 1969. Inspired by Pasolini’s philosophy, Liquid Loft and choreographer Chris Haring let a strange, dualistic being cross the border to a mythically charged world in grotesque motion. In this play with hedonism and realism of bodies, sounds and utopian tableaux vivants, the audience get to experience how new orders replace the existing ones, how all that’s young withers, and the metaphysical disappears.
