Each year, ImPulsTanz presents an exceptionally packed programme of more than 50 productions by international and Austrian artists and companies in theatres and museums in Vienna.

Tickets for selected productions at the Burgtheater, Volkstheater and Akademietheater, as well as for events in cooperation with Johann Strauss 2025 Vienna, are already on sale.
Tickets for the full programme will be available from 11 June.

    Museum cooperations

    Pioneering cooperations with museums such as mumok or Leopold Museum intensify the dialogue between dance and the visual arts.

    The [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series has served as a platform for exciting positions by a new generation of choreographers in the scope of ImPulsTanz since 2001.

    Classics

    ImPulsTanz invites back notable productions and audience favourites from past festivals.

    Extras

    ImPulsTanz organises book presentations, exhibitions, talks, film screenings, music video programmes and much more to complement the performance programme.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    Pre-sale ongoing for productions at Volkstheater and Akademietheater

    In addition to the performances already available at Burgtheater and in cooperation with Johann Strauss 2025 Vienna, ImPulsTanz has once again taken to the stages of Volkstheater and Akademietheater this year. Featured in the line-up are exciting new additions such as Amala Dianor from France, Unplugged Bodies from South Korea, and TAO Dance Theater from China. Returning to the programme are acclaimed artists including Marie Chouinard, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, and Doris Uhlich.

    Tickets for selected performances at the Volkstheater and Akademietheater are now available online, via +43 1 235 00 22, and at the daytime box office in the MuseumsQuartier. Culturall Early Bird customers can still enjoy a 10% discount on up to two tickets per production at the Volkstheater and Akademietheater until 14 May. The full programme will be released on 11 June.

    The Greats at the Burgtheater

    The Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch + Terrain Boris Charmatz open the festival with two productions: Love and desire await the audience in CLUB AMOUR. Café Müller / Aatt enen tionon / herses, duo. This Austrian premiere combines two works by Boris Charmatz with Bausch’s iconic Café Müller from 1978. Meanwhile, in the masterpiece Nelken, the same company explores love and the longing to be loved amidst a sea of pink flowers. Sasha Waltz presents In C to music by Terry Riley, and Akram Khan Company and Manal AlDowayan present their first collaboration, Thikra: Night of Remembering.

    Preview of upcoming Performance Highlights

    Preparations for the upcoming festival, starting on 10 July, are in full swing and we are delighted to announce more additions to the programme! Audience favourite Alexander Vantournhout embarks on an acrobatic journey with Emmi Väisänen and transforms a simple handshake into an intricate choreography in every_body. After the acclaimed ImPulsTanz Classic BLESSED (2007), Meg Stuart and Francisco Camacho reunite in steal you for a moment, set in the ruins of Sardinia. A thrilling night unfolds as Mette Ingvartsen and her performers present Delirious Night – a celebration of rebellious, unrestrained dance. The renowned choreographer of the film Emilia Pérez, Damien Jalet, presents
    Thrice, showcasing three of his latest works, while Marie Chouinard brings an impressive double bill featuring BodyremixRemix and Magnificat, set to
    Johann Sebastian Bach’s composition of the same name. Last but not least, Akemi Takeya’s company celebrates a world premiere in Austria with Transient Shifts.
