We reveal even more performance highlights:
Audience favourite Alexander Vantournhout embarks on an acrobatic journey with Emmi Väisänen in every_body, turning a simple handshake into a complex choreography. Following the acclaimed ImPulsTanz Classic BLESSED, which Meg Stuart created in 2007 for Portuguese dancer and choreographer Francisco Camacho, the duo reunites in steal you for a moment, set among the ruins of Sardinia. A captivating night awaits as Mette Ingvartsen and her performers invite audiences to Delirious Night – a celebration of unrestrained, rebellious dance inspired by masquerade balls, dance manias, and carnival traditions. The celebrated choreographer of the film Emilia Pérez, Damien Jalet, brings Thrice to the festival, premiering three of his latest stage works. Twenty years after Marie Chouinard’s global success
bODY_rEMIX/gOLDBERG_vARIATIONS, the reworked BodyremixRemix now returns, presented alongside her piece Magnificat, set to Johann Sebastian Bach’s composition of the same name. And Austria’s first world premiere has already been announced: Akemi Takeya’s company returns to the festival with Transient Shifts, blending science fiction, Buddhism, and a touch of humour.

ImPulsTanz Prelude by Mathilde Monnier at Volkstheater

Even before the festival begins, ImPulsTanz, in cooperation with Johann Strauss 2025 Wien, invites audiences to Volkstheater on 10 and 12 May. The world premiere of MUSIQUE – In the Spirit of Johann Strauss by Mathilde Monnier, one of the most significant figures in French contemporary dance, brings to life well-known melodies, the rustle of elegant gowns, and dancing silhouettes set to the music of Johann Strauss – performed live by award-winning composer Judit Varga on the grand piano.
