Birgit Keil studied at the Ballet School of the Württembertische Staatstheater, where she became a solo dancer, when she was only 18. One year later John Cranko entrusted her the double role of the white and black swan in "Swan Lake" thus starting a very successful cooperation. The first soloist of the Stuttfart Ballet also worked together with William Forsythe, Jiri Kilian and John Neumeier.
