BIOGRAPHY

born 1950 in Finland)
Uotinen has been mainly influenced by Serge Golovine and Carolyn Carlson. In 1975 Carlson invited him to join her experimental group at the Paris Opera, where his career as a powerful and original performer and choreographer started to shape. After his time as a director of the dance group of the Helsinki City Theatre during the 1980s, he got appointed director of the Finnish National Ballet from 1992 - 2001, where he was responsible for a very innovative, experimental repertory interpreting both classical as well as new creations.
