CURRENTLY

BIOGRAPHY

Nina Kripas is a graduate of the Ballet School of the Austrian Federal Theatres under the direction of Michael Birkmeyer. From 1997 she was a member of the Tanztheater Wien, and from 1999 to 2002 also of the Ballet of the Vienna Volksoper under the direction of Liz King. There she gained her first experiences as a choreographer. Her own choreographies include Atlantis (2002), parts of Déja Waltz 3 (2003) for the Festspielhaus St.Pölten, Apple Tabacco (2004), The Nobility of failure (2004), Dream Addict (2007) at the dance evening Dreamcatcher, where she worked with 16 dancers from the Graz Opera Ballet, and her hip-hop show Step into da cypher (2004). Nina took her first dance classes at ImPulsTanz when she was 15 and subsequently started with her first hip-hop classes there. Her love for hip-hop took her to France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the USA, where she learned from Niels “Storm” Robitzky, Karl Kane Libanus, Pascal Couillaud, Marjory Smarth, Brian Green, Superdave, Bruce Ykanji, Poppin Pete, Rokafella, Link, Eddie Morales, Kevin Maher, and others. Various hip-hop jams and parties in clubs in NYC or Paris, Berlin or Amsterdam, and the exchange in the "circle" with freestyle dancers from all over the world contributed at least as much to experiencing the vibe and lifestyle of hip-hop. In August 2007, she obtained her artist visa to try her luck in Los Angeles. So far, she has danced for artists such as Sean Paul, Will.I.am, Fergie, Avril Lavigne, Craig David, and worked with choreographers such as Fatima Robinson, Tanisha Scott, Shotyme, Keith Young, etc. Nina is increasingly in demand as a lecturer and teaches in Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, the Caribbean, Germany, and the USA. She appeared in the new Wayans Brothers film SNOWFLAKE.
