Already 1960 Carlotta Ikeda has started to dance in Tokyo. At that time she gets in touch with modern dance by Mary Wigman and Martha Graham. 1974 she gets to know Buto DAIRAKUDAKAN and Ko MUROBUSHI.
The company ARIADONE is founded exlusively with female dancers. 1978 the first European tour with Ko MUROBUSHI takes place. In the following years such pieces as DERNIER EDEN, ZARATHOUSTRA, HIME are created, and the solo of Ko for Carlotta UTT which has toured extensively all over the world. Numerous guest performances of ARIADONE are given in Europe and Israel. Besides the duet AI AMOUR, that continues her artistic cooperation with Ko MUROBUSHI she choreographs more and more herself. Highly recognized in France her group pieces tour widely in Europe, Brazil and Canada.
In 1997 Carlotta Ikeda opens her own studio in Bordeaux. HARU NO SAITEN: UN SACRE DU PRINTEMPS is created as a choreographic collaboration of Carlotta Ikeda und Ko Murobushi 1999 / 2000. Premiered at Théâtre de la Bastille in Paris it is touring around the world since then. At ImPulsTanz 2003 it will finally be presented as well.
2001 Carlotta creates a solo choreography for Mathilde LAPOSTOLLE named TAMPOPO – PISSENLIT. 2002 she produces TOGÉ, a butoh dance piece with techno music by the industrial rock band SPINA for the Festival of Avignon.
Carlotta Ikeda, who was based in France since the 1980s, passed away in Bordeaux on 24 September 2014 at the age of 73.
2003
