Nicole Berndt-Caccivio was born in Switzerland in 1963. She studied classical and modern dance in Europe and at Cunningham Studios in NYC. A freelancer since the 80s she has worked as a dancer mainly with the Tanzfabrik Berlin as well as the ch-tanztheater Zurich. In 1992 she won the first prize with her own company Ljada (Biel-Bienne, CH, 1988–1994) at the festival of the Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv together with the company Ricochet. She has been a regular guest lecturer for contemporary dance at MUK Vienna, Dance Department of the Hochschule für Darstellende Künste in Frankfurt a.M., ImPulsTanz Vienna, Etage Berlin, La Faktoria in Pamplona, La Manufacture in Lausanne, TRY in Lucca among others. She is part of artistic, co-teaching and performative collaborations with David Bloom Berlin, Claude Hofer Olten, Kollektiv F Bern, Nicolas Caccivio Basel, Ada Fischer Basel, Annelie André Berlin, Renae Shadler Berlin, and since 2019 of the SPHERE collective in Berlin. Since 2009 she has been the artistic director of the Age Company in Vienna, where she has been creating pieces with life-experienced people. She has initiated “Golden Age” Workshops where elderly people come into contact and exchange on a physical and artistic level. Since 2004 she has been working as a biodynamic craniosacral therapist exploring the exchange between generations as well as her own aging as a performer in her artistic work. Thus, she develops solo projects with Caccivio en Compagnie (Biel-Bienne, since 2020) and keeps the physical and choreographic expertise with her own social visions in focus. For her project Body and Space (Première 2022) she was supported by Kultur Biel Culture Bienne as well as SWISSLOS Canton Bern.
