Tonny Lutaaya, artistically known as Tonny Africa, is a Ugandan dance artist, artivist, and performance maker.Tonny has a strong foundation and deep roots in HipHop and Afro dance as both culture and movement. He describes his style as Urban Experimental Fusion.
A dance trainee of the danceWEB programme at ImPulsTanz (Vienna), Tonny Africa has received both formal and informal training in various dance repertoires – starting with Ugandan traditional dances at a young age in community settings, and later exploring different urban styles such as HipHop and Contemporary.
Over the years, he has participated in and competed at numerous global dance competitions and battles, and has facilitated dance workshops, choreographic creations, programming, and the organisation of numerous artistic projects both locally and internationally.
