PROGRAMME
Ana Rocha is a choreographer, curator, and performer who works as a mediator in the cultural and artistic fields. She develops a research-based artistic and socio-political language that explores the potential of process and context. Her practice engages with cultural multiplicity and diversity, creating connections between points of reflection and transition through mentoring and consultancy with institutions, non-profit organizations, artistic collectives, and both national and international creators. She studied Visual Arts, holds a degree in Art History, and is currently a PhD student in Human Ecology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
With 24 years of freelance experience in the arts and culture sector—spanning performance, artistic collaboration, dramaturgy, and other roles—Ana worked with numerous artists, including Fabienne Audéoud, Isabelle Schad, Dinis Machado, Rafael Alvarez, Benoît Lachambre, Antonija Livingstone, Gretta Sarfaty, Netos de Bandim, CA Conrad, Renan Martins, Mariana Tengner Barros, Teresa Fabião, Rui Catalão, Bernardo Chatillon, Gio Lourenço, Mark Tompkins, Xavier de Sousa, Meg Stuart, Philippe Quesne, Elpida Orfanidou, Igor Dobrić, Luísa Mota, André Sousa, and Davis Freeman, among others.
As a creator, she presented work in both formal and site-specific contexts, with notable pieces including Fraud by Nature (2012), Stabat Mater Furiosa (2017), LAVACURA (2019), Manual da Falla (2019), MudAres (2020), Entretanto(s) (2021), OraculÁreas (2021), OcioSamente (2022), #RebelRebel (2022), Oráculo de Adivinhação para o Gil, Eu&Água, Dei-te o Mundo de Bandeja, Approaches to Tempest Birth (2023), Mukur Mukur, and Toda Gente Vai (2024).
Her work as a teacher includes collaborations with Oficina Zero, Tanzfabrik, ESAP, FBAUP, and ESNBALyon. Ana also served as a jury member for the Portuguese Platform for Performing Arts, Fundação La Caixa / Espaço do Tempo, and Bantumen.
She was a co-founder of MEZZANINE, a non-profit performing arts organization (2008–2018), and was involved with Ação Cooperativista, the REDE directors’ board, and the Mystery School of Choreography / PACAP8 (Fórum Dança) as an artistic collaborator.
