BIOGRAPHY

Katharina Schrott, born in Salzburg, completed her training in contemporary choreography, dance, and performance at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam. In addition, she furthered her education in the Feldenkrais Method, which she has been practising since 2015. Together with Cornelia Böhnisch, she co-directs the Toihaus Theatre in Salzburg, where they focus on creating innovative choreography for a diverse age range of audiences. Her works are characterised by an intense engagement with various materials, resulting in a fascinating interplay of movement, music, space, and performers.

The choreographies by Katharina and Cornelia lie at the heart of their artistic practice. Each production emerges from a detailed, exploratory process that encompasses creative collaboration and a profound exploration of movement and space. Their pieces engage multiple senses, combining physical movement with musical and spatial elements to offer the audience an immersive experience.

This unique approach has led their works to not only captivate local audiences but also tour internationally. In recognition of their significant contribution to the arts, they were awarded the International Prize for Art & Culture by the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg in 2022.
