Vitória Jovem (Irmãs Brasil) (BR)

BIOGRAPHY

Legendary Vitória Jovem, artist and performer, develops her artistic creations by articulating practices of deviation from normality. In Ballroom Culture, she is recognised as a legendary Runway Diva, sharing a large part of this construction alongside legendary Viní Ventania, together they are the international Irmãs Brasil. Vitória walks and tells her story through aesthetic categories such as Runway, Best Dressed, and Fashion Killa. She has travelled to countries such as Germany, Chile, Austria, and Switzerland as both a performer and visual artist. Nominated for Best Actress in 2023 by the Shell Theatre Award for her creation and performance in Sem Palavras, a play by Companhia Brasileira de Teatro. She received the Young Choreographers' Award of the [8:tension] series at ImPulsTanz in Vienna, and was also honoured as both Best Choreographer and Best Piece of the festival with Eunuchs in 2024. In 2025, Vitória was awarded first place with the Klauss Vianna Dance Scholarship for National Show Circulation with Eunuchs.

Irmãs Brasil are twin travesti artists hailing from a rodeo cowboy family in Amparo, São Paulo. Their artistic expression is shaped by the contrasting worlds of their upbringing and their experiences as queer individuals. Their work blends dance, theatre, and performance, challenging heteronormative and colonial norms through a focus on the body and its transformative potential.
Their artistic practice is a testament to resilience and survival, exploring themes of escape, healing, and self-narration. They aim to create a space within the art world to celebrate marginalised existences and resist erasure.
