Laurent Pellissier is an artist and stage / costume designer. Since 2015, he has been working closely with director Silvia Rieger both nationally and internationally. In 2020, he designed the stage set for F for Factory at the Schauspielhaus Wien, and in 2021, he created the costumes for Medea Material at the Staatstheater Augsburg. At the Volksbühne Berlin, he recently worked as a stage design assistant on productions by René Pollesch, Constanza Macras, Susanne Kennedy, Khan de La Cruz and Florentina Holzinger. He lives in Berlin.
Laurent is also a visual artist and painter. Populated by queer and supernatural beings, his paintings and sculptures evoke the night, the city, desire and the forest. He experiments with variation and seriality and he recently began working on a series of small-format pencil drawings and watercolors, as well as linocuts made from his drawings. Like his paintings and sculptures, these new formats make unrestrained references to German Expressionism, Japanese cartoons, and 80s pornography alike – swinging between humor and horror, melancholy and sensuality, kawaii and grotesque.
