BIOGRAPHY

Martina Rösler lives and works as a freelance choreographer, dancer and dance mediator in Vienna. She studied Contemporary Dance Pedagogy at the MUK Vienna with a semester abroad at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, as well as Theatre, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna. She received the danceWEB scholarship at ImPulsTanz in 2011 and the BKA's starting scholarship for performing arts in 2012. She is part of the Viennese theatre collective makemake produktionen, whose work has already won several awards, including the STELLA Prize in the ‘Outstanding Production for Children’ category in 2015 for her dance piece Das ist ja ein Ding and the Nestroy Theatre Prize for the best OFF production in 2018 with the piece Muttersprache Mameloschn, Das große Heft was shortlisted for the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2020. She was also nominated for the STELLA Prize in 2019 for her performance in the international co-production Homo Deus Frankenstein. She has worked as a performer and choreographer at Kosmos Theatre, Volkstheater, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Kopergietery Gent, Ufer Studios Berlin, WUK performing arts and Dschungel Wien, among others. She has been a lecturer on the Master of Arts Education programme at the MUK since 2017 and has realised numerous dance and art education projects for SCHÄXPIR Festival, ImPulsTanz, Dschungel Wien, KulturKontakt Austria, Szene Bunte Wähne Festival. She also collaborates with different people in various contexts, including Emmy Steiner (Pip. Performances) and Spitzwegerich. Together with Johanna Figl, she worked on a cross-generational performance in public space in 2021/2022 as part of the SHIFT project Liebe Hilde,... deine Zoé with pupils from the Integrative Learning Workshop Brigittenau and senior citizens from the 20th district.
