Thomas Brandstätter studied philosophy and German philology in Vienna and Madrid. In 2006, he startet to work with experimental film. After collaborating with artists from different artistic fields, he founded together with Andrea Maurer studio 5 in 2007. Their projects include performances, installations, video-works and animation-films. They have presented their works at ImPulsTanz Vienna, brut Wien, Tanzquartier Wien, Szene Salzburg, Performa Maribor, Chez Bushwick NYC and others. Their latest piece THE END was premiered at imagetanz 2011, brut Wien. The current project The Impossible Movement Series deals with the technique of stop-motion as an analytical and productive tool in the context of choreography.
