Brazil, State of Minas Gerais, 5 November 2015. Two dams of a settling pond at a mine collapsed, villages were laid to waste. The Rio Doce turned into a toxic cesspit stretching over 600 kilometres, polluting even parts of the Atlantic coast in the process. Silke Huysmans lived near the scene of the accident at the time. To develop this documentary performance she went back there with Hannes Dereere, interviewed people affected and researched the ramifications of the catastrophe. The result is a deeply moving, poetic, philosophical piece about facts, memory and politics.
